The Indian monsoon affects Oman in different ways such as cloud cover and drizzly weather along the mountains in southern part of Dhofar and the temperature drop along the far east coast of Oman. The effect starts from early June to late September. The lush mountains of Dhofar and pleasant temperature along the eastern coast are the most profound effects of the monsoon and the figure below illustrate the effect of the monsoon in the biosphere in Dhofar mountains.

The pleasant air temperature along the east coast is due to the improvement of the upwelling in the Arabian sea. The upwelling dynamic is simply moving the cold subsurface water upwards to the surface, by which the warm surface water is moved downward. When the airmass moves over a relatively colder surface, its temperature will decrease which means that the advected airmass to the coast will bring a pleasant air temperature. The figure below shows the difference between the sea surface temperature during monsoon and pre-monsoon the sea surface temperature.

The monthly mean of the air temperature along the coast is ranged from 21 C to 27 C during August which is illustrated by the figure below.
