The latest weather maps and analysis indicate heavy thunderstorms accompanied with strong downdraft winds and hail during tomorrow Sunday, over governorates of North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, South Al Batinah and Muscat.
Impact level: Moderate to high.
Alerts:
- Heavy thundershowers are expected associated with hail and may cause flashfloods (Wadis).
- Strong downdraft active winds with speed ranging (15 – 35) knots (28 – 46 km/h).
- Reduction in horizontal visibility during thundershowers.
Chance of isolated rain with thundershowers will affect governorates of north al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Musandam and Dhofar.
Impact level: : Low to Moderate.
The Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precautions during thundershower, not to cross Wadis (Flashfloods), avoid low laying areas and not to sail during alert period.
